The KonMari method

The KonMari method

Two weeks ago, we explained in detail what Home Staging was and the advantages that this method offers in terms of time and price. But it must be admitted that if the staging of a real estate object is easy when it comes to a second home or a new property where nobody lives, things get complicated when the owner occupies it permanently.

That is why today we would like to inform you about the method called KonMari. Marie Kondo, creator, helps you organize your home, but especially helps you keep it in order permanently.

Who hasn´t despaired, after having completely fixed their home, to see that in a few weeks the chaos had returned? Who didn´t start to rebuild their home suddenly and left it halfway?

Marie Kondo is a Japanese woman who has been passionate about organization since she was young. As a child, she spent her free time sorting out the cabinets of the whole house, choosing and throwing things that sometimes were not her own, that didn ´t cause her problems. She never abandoned that passion and experienced all forms of domestic organizations, which suffered many failures , until the elaboration of its own method. Today lives of his passion and gives us his technique in his book "The magic of storage."

The first step in keeping your home in order is to get rid of what is not essential. We all tend to accumulate objects for all kinds of reasons, one of which is that "it can always be useful". But what criteria should we use to select criteria? It is probably in this that the KonMari method is the most original, because it is based on the feelings that objects provoke their owners. If an object inspires you with joy and happiness, you keep it. If this is not the case, it is better to get rid of it and let it go and let it play its role in the hands of a new owner who really enjoys it.

The organization of the classification is important, since getting rid of your property is not a simple process. Therefore, it is necessary to do things in a certain order and start with the objects from which it is easiest to separate, the clothes. To realize how much we have, we must first gather all our clothes in one place in the house. We will separate them by categories and finally we will begin the classification. Each piece of clothing must be held in the hands and its owner must ask if it inspires happiness, if the object causes him happiness. It is perfectly acceptable that a deformed and ugly shirt is a source of happiness for the comfort you have and that a new blouse that does not suit you should be fired.

The process will be applied to each object in the following order:

1. Clothing
2. Books
3. Papers (this category is not based on the criterion of joy, but on the need)
4. Other objects
5. Possessions with sentimental value

Once we have finished selecting what we will keep, the second step will be to organize the arrangement. Also in this case, the KonMari method offers an original approach: from the observation that if the objects are distributed randomly through the house, the risk of not finding anything is high and buying the same things many times, Marie Kondo is committed to finding a place for each type of object. In addition, we will proceed to vertical storage and we will not stack to have an immediate view of what we have available. This is particularly effective for clothes that must be folded in a certain way so that they can be seen easily.

This is, therefore, a good proposal so that the owner who wants to sell his house has it at all times presentable in the event that an unexpected visit occurs and, on the other hand, that his future transfer will be easier.
